Blue Water District Youth Lay Servant Weekend

Beginning (Youth) Leadership Training (BLT)

This program was designed for youth in 5th—8th grade. This is a great opportunity to meet other youth from our district and grow in faith together. This is an introductory program to the youth lay servant ministry program. It focuses on what it means to be a servant leader. This program is lead by ministers and lay servants from around the Blue Water District. It is a life changing program that encourages, faith, family, and friends. This weekend we will offer two classes for our BLT participants. The basic class is for first-year participants and the advanced class is for our second and third-year participants. The youth from this program also help plan and lead Sunday morning worship service.

Youth Lay Servant (YLS)

Youth Lay Servant Ministries is a nationally recognized ministry in the United Methodist Church. This program is open to all young adults in grades 9-12. This program helps you expand your knowledge of the United Methodist Church, and it’s foundation in Lay Servant ministry. You explore your faith and church history with other youth from around the Blue Water District. This year we will be offering both the basic class and an advanced class.

The cost per youth for either BLT or YLS is $45. Click here for more details. Click here to the registration form. Registration deadline is April 15, 2018. For the youth covenant form, click here.

Blue Water District Clergy Retreat

Seeking Sabbath

Sabbath is time intentionally set aside for rest, reflection, and the restoration of our mind, body, and spirit. It is essential for effective living and especially ministry. Yet, this foundational piece of our Judeo-Christian tradition is often the first item sacrificed to the cultural gods of productivity. Come join your colleagues in a time of experiencing and exploring the contours of Sabbath along the beautiful Lake Huron shore. Gently guided times of reflection and sharing will be available, as will abundantly given permission to seek out that which restores your soul in your own way. Prayer stations and a labyrinth will be available for your use.

The presenter for this retreat will be Annelissa Gray-Lion, a deacon at Chelsea: First UMC.

Rev. John Hice, District 6 Superintendent, will be present on Monday evening, during the meal and then afterward. He will be looking forward to meeting and greeting you.

Click here for the registration form. Registrations due to the Blue Water District Office by Monday, March, 12, 2018.

Blue Water District Celebration

You're Invited

Join Rev. Elizabeth Hill, Blue Water District Superintendent, and the Blue Water District Leadership Team in celebration of the Blue Water District.

All clergy, laity, friends and family are welcome. This is a time for us to have fellowship and fun in the middle of Winter. A light menu will be provided. There will be a time to share our history (trivia game), build for the future (Lego) and create memories of our time together (painting rocks to take with us). We will also create a Memory Book of the District to be given to the United Methodist Archives for future generations, so please bring pictures, bulletins, letters or any other items which will help preserve our time as the Blue Water District of the Detroit Annual Conference. Please make every effort to be a part of this day.

If possible, we would like a count of those who will be attending. Please RSVP to the District Office by Friday February 2, 2018 at bluewaterdist@gmail.com.
