IMPORTANT FOR ALL CHURCHES: The new Michigan Conference of the UMC has instituted a NEW Protection Policy. Effective January 1, 2018 all previously obtained certification through the West MI and Detroit Conferences have expired. New training is REQUIRED for all leaders/churches attending/hosting District of Conference events where youth, children, and/or vulnerable adults will be served.

The Lansing District Committee on Lay Servant Ministries announces its Spring Retreat and Courses. The Basic Class, as well as, three Advanced Classes will be offered, Leading in Prayer, Accountable Discipleship, and Justice in Everyday Life. A Prayer Retreat will also be offered for credit.
Join us at Lake Louise for a lay servant training event. Advanced class "Accountable Discipleship" will be taught by Bishop Bard. The basic class is also being offered.
Early Response Teams (ERTs) fill a specific need in the early days after a disaster to clean out flood-damaged homes, remove debris, place tarps on homes, and otherwise help to prevent further damage, while providing a caring Christian presence. ERTs are not a first-response group of emergency workers, nor are they recovery, rebuild, or repair teams. Under very specific guidelines, ERTs assist survivors, without causing further harm or being a burden to the affected community. Early Responders receive eight hours…
