ABOUT THE COLLEGE
Rust was founded in 1866 in Asbury United Methodist Church in Holly Springs, MS by Rev. A.C. McDonald and Rev. Moses Adams, dedicated to alleviating the poverty suffering of Black Americans through education and moral guidance. Since that time, the United Methodist Church has been an integral part of Rust College.
Rust offers academic programs in five areas: Education, Business, Humanities, Social Science, Science, and Mathematics, awarding the A.S., B.A., B.S., B.S.W., Degrees. The College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), The University Senate of the United Methodist Church and the Mississippi State Department of Education. The Social Work Program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
ABOUT THE CHOIR
The Rust College A’Cappella Choir, under the direction of George Patrick Johnson, is one of America’s most renowned choirs which feature a broad repertoire of classical, semi-classical, spirituals, opera contemporary and traditional gospel. The A’Cappella Choir has captured the attention of prestigious audiences worldwide.
